POCKET GLOBE FESTIVAL

The “Pocket Globe” festival is taking place this year in the new building of the Student Cultural Center in Novi Sad, from November 12 to 14.

Exciting as in previous years, this time the festival focuses on women — artists and leaders. Among the 14 musicians from 8 countries, nine are women! While Teija Niku has a solo performance, the group Samaïa represents a female trio, and women also lead the other four concerts and projects. All this demonstrates that the world music genre is one where creativity and equality go hand in hand.

The festival excitement, which can be felt in the beautiful space over three programmatically diverse evenings with two performances each, will be enhanced by vocal polyphony, Sephardic music, songs from southern Italy, old Polish and Ukrainian songs, the sounds of the accordion from northern Europe with influences from the Balkans, as well as the return of Jelena Popržan to the Novi Sad audience…
